Worldwide, 60 to 90 percent of school children and nearly all adults have tooth cavities which leads to toothache. The oral bacteria in our mouth thrive on sugars and starches that we eat, and produce enamel-eroding acids.

If you have toothache, it is best to seek immediate advice from a dentist before the problem worsens. You can also try some natural remedies to relieve the pain temporarily.


1. Salt And Pepper

Salt and pepper have strong anti-bacterial properties and can effectively relieve a toothache.

Mix equal portions of regular table salt and pepper with a little water to make toothpaste.

Then, apply the toothpaste on the infected tooth and keep at for a couple of minutes.


2. Turmeric

Turmeric is a true wonder spice – it seems there is almost nothing that this amazing herb can’t do.

It possesses strong antiseptic, analgesic and antibacterial properties that can help stop pain in its tracks.

It’s considered to be effective against tooth and gum infections.

Mix a few drops of mustard oil with half a teaspoon of turmeric powder to create a thick paste.

Apply this on your cavity and leave it for 15 minutes before you spit it out.

To relieve the pain, do this regularly.


3. Baking Soda

You Will Need Baking soda,Water and Cotton ball.

Moisten the cotton ball with some water and cover the entire ball with baking soda.

Place the cotton ball against the affected tooth to eliminate tooth pain.

You can also mix a heaped teaspoon of baking soda in a little bit of warm water. Dissolve the powder and use this liquid as a mouth rinse. It will work the same way.

Apply this on the tooth twice or thrice till you get relief from the toothache.


4. Onion

Onion contains phytochemicals that target the germs responsible for the infection and gives you a break from the pain.

A small piece of raw onion is required.

Place the raw onion on the affected tooth.

Leave it on for a couple of minutes.

Repeat this twice a day.



5. Warm Salt Water

A glass of warm water and 1 teaspoon salt.

Dissolve the salt in the warm water and rinse your mouth with this.

Repeat this three to four times a day.

It prevents swelling and cleans the area around the toothache.


6. Garlic clove

It is known and used for its medicinal properties.

It kills harmful bacteria and works as a pain reliever.

The best approach to using it is to either make a paste of it and place it on the affected area or you can chew it slowly.

You can repeat this natural treatment for few days until the pain is gone.


7. Cinnamon To Prevent Tooth Ache

All we need is 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder and 5 teaspoons honey

Mix the cinnamon powder with the honey.

Apply this sticky paste directly on to your tooth

Repeat this twice or thrice a day, or until the toothache disappears.


8. Oil Pulling For Tooth Pain

1-2 tablespoons coconut oil some warm water, toothbrush and toothpaste

Swish the coconut oil in your mouth for about 20 minutes.

Do not ingest the oil. After 20 minutes, spit the oil into a trash can.

Rinse your mouth with warm water.

Follow this by brushing your teeth normally.

Do this twice a day till you get relief from the toothache.
